EUREKA, Ca (KIEM)- People without food can thank local schools for the help they will be receiving.

St. Bernard’s Academy began its canned food drive Wednesday with a splash. By bringing canned goods to schools, students got the chance to leave their mark on its principal, Paul Shanahan.

At a kick-off assembly, they taped their principal to a wall and then pelted him with water-balloons, but don’t worry. It was all in good fun as the students began their campaign to help local needy families and principal Shanahan said he was proud to be the incentive for such good will.
