DHHS receives $625,000 grant to support local youth substance abuse prevention

A 625,000 dollar grant will support local youth substance use prevention. The grant was awarded to DHHS to provide funding for the Humboldt Allies for Substance Abuse Prevention, or ASAP. ASAP consists of members of all ages across the county working together to build safe and healthy communities, free of drug related harm.

In a 2018 survey from “California Healthy Kids,” Humboldt County children reported easy access to alcohol and drugs.

The grant will be given in increments of $125,000 over the course of the next five years.
