St. Joseph and Redwood Memorial Hospital reach C-section federal goal

EUREKA, Ca. (KIEM) St. Joseph and Redwood Memorial Hospital make the Smart Care C-section Honor Roll for reaching a federal goal.

They’ve successfully reduced C-section births to less than 23 percent. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services had adopted the healthy people 20-20 target of getting nationwide C-section rates for low-risk first births to 23.9 percent.

There is a huge gap of rates for hospitals within California ranging from 70 to less than 15 percent.
