Convicted felon arrested after chase

HOOPA- A convicted felon is arrested after leading law enforcement on a high speed chase in eastern Humboldt.

At around 12:30 Sunday morning, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s office attempted to pull over a Honda Accord for speeding on Tish Tang Road. The car failed to yield leading a pursuit on State Route 96 and then onto 169. It was on upper Cappell Road where the suspect left the vehicle in a creek.

K9 Gusto was able to locate the suspect, 25 year-old Frank Benson hiding under a large piece of concrete. He was found in possession of ammunition and had an empty pistol holster on his belt.

Benson is a convicted felon and had a warrant for his arrest. He was also arrested for evading and possession of stolen property.
