Another former HSU basketball assistant arrested

MCKINLEYVILLE (KIEM)- Another former Humboldt State men’s basketball assistant is in trouble with the law.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s office said 32 year-old Cy Vandermeer of McKinleyville was arrested after he was found in possession of stolen property from a burglary in McKinleyville. It happened on December 27, at a residence on the 2100 block of Grace Avenue.

Vandermeer was booked and released on suspicion of burglary, possession of a controlled substance and stolen property.

Along with coaching, he’s also the former athletic director at St. Bernard’s High School. Vandermeer’s arrest comes a week after former HSU assistant and CR basketball coach Aaron Hungerford was arrested for DUI.
