Local gets recognized nationally by the New York Times

Humboldt County, Ca., (KIEM) Executive Director and Founder of the Humboldt Area Center for Harm Reduction, Brandie Wilson, gets nationally recognized as one of the 18 Most Memorable People We Met Across the County in 2018.

In May of last year the New York Times took a close look and published an article about the opioid epidemic taking place in Eureka, talking to locals and HACHR. This month the newspaper featured Wilson as one of the 18 people selected to highlight, for the extensive work put into the community and society.

Wilson told the Outpost that she was excited to see she had made the list, which she discovered this morning when someone had sent her the newspaper clipping.

Wilson also added that the initial New York Times published story gained a lot of traction which she is thankful for, she said, she was even contacted by Senator Dianne Feinstein of California, asking what the community needed and how she could help.
