A project 2 years in the making was brought forward to the Board of Supervisors. It’s a plan to develop sustainable fishing communities in the county.

The plan prioritizes the needs of both Shelter Cove and Eureka.

Shelter Cove is a small and rural fishing port. It requires a sustainable launch system, cold storage facility, and needs to attract new buyers. But, the city did form its first fishing association called Shelter Cove Fishing Preservation Inc. In Eureka, there is a need for ice storage facilities and to protect waterfront uses.
