Search for Missing Canadian Hiker Suspended

SHELTER COVE, Ca. (KIEM) – After a four day intensive search, the search for 32-year old Rick Raymond Eastep has been suspended.

Bad weather conditions and high tides made searching for the missing hiker extremely difficult. The Canadian hiker began his hike on The Lost Coast Trail on January 3rd. Then on Wednesday, he sent a text saying that he was injured. It’s believed that he was near the Miller Flat area. The 32-year old planned to end his hike at Black Sands Beach.

Rescue crews did manage to locate Eastep’s backpack and supplies.

There are no other signs of Eastep’s whereabouts.
