Upcoming Storm Forces Crab Fishermen to Stay Docked

EUREKA, Ca. (KIEM) – After several delays, commercial crab season is finally kicking off. But a big storm that is on the way is keeping crabbers and fishing vessels docked.

Test results yesterday revealed low levels of domoic acid for areas south of Patrick’s Point to the Mendocino-Sonoma county line.

But they are still awaiting results to the north. However, the upcoming storm is expected to bring heavy rain and winds.

Some crabbers have made the decision to wait a little longer until the skies clear.
