Flu Season in Full Swing but Vaccines are Proving to be Effective

EUREKA, Ca. (KIEM) – Flu season is in full swing, but vaccines for this season’s flu strain are proving to be effective.

The flu often peaks in February. Last year, about 35,000 to 80,000 people died of the flu.

This year, the CDC matched the dominant strains of the flu which have been circulating throughout the US. That’s led to fewer hospitalizations.

It’s recommended that you get a flu shot to prevent yourself from catching the diseases. Health experts also suggest you stay home and recover if you are infected.
