Potter Valley man dies in Southern Humboldt crash

WEOTT (KIEM)- The Potter Valley man who was killed in a two-vehicle crash in southern Humboldt is identified.

44 year-old Matthew Kyle Sherman was transported to St. Joseph Hospital Thursday where he later died.

The crash happened at around 4:30 pm north of Weott. A Toyota Tundra driven by Zechariah Alailefaleula was traveling northbound on Highway 101 when he drifted into the southbound lane and collided with a Toyota Camry driven by Sherman. Alailefaleula was also transported to the hospital with moderate injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
