Rio Dell Mayor delivers gift of a lifetime to a local resident

A Rio Dell Resident receives the gift of a lifetime, all with the help of the City’s Mayor, Debra Garnes.

Garnes had been traveling home from a meeting in Sacramento when she met a woman named Karen. It just so happens, she is the niece of Rio Dell resident Nancy Kurtz. After talking to one another, Karen asked if Garnes would be able to deliver a gift to her aunt.

Garnes delivered the memento to Kurtz on Tuesday. Kurtz had been separated from her late husband’s veteran flag for decades. She received the gift exactly 27 years from her husband’s passing.

Mayor Garnes is also a navy veteran herself. After this encounter, she intends to visit her new friend often.
