EUREKA, Ca., (KIEM) – A Humboldt County home school group hosts a bake sale at Pierson’s in Eureka, to raise money for a local 5-year-old boy who recently got diagnosed with leukemia.

After an Urgent Care visit last week 5-year-old Lief Borgeson and his family found out he had an acute T-Cell, Leukemia. Everyone is still in shock about the heartbreaking news.

The Borgeson family have a long road ahead of them with hospital visits and trips to San Francisco. To help ease the cost of medical bills, Leif’s home school group and some parents stood outside of Pierson’s taking donations and selling bake goods raising over $2,000 for his cause.

If you were unable to make it the bake sale today, there is still a chance you can give. A GoFundMe is set up for the Borgeson family. Just go to GoFundMe.com and search Leif and the Borgeson family. After we aired this story tonight on Redwood News, the Borgeson family reached their goal of $10,000.
