Carjacking suspect arrested after pursuit ends in crash

RIDGEWOOD (KIEM)- A carjacking results in a high speed chase with the suspect crashing the victims car.

It happened just before midnight Friday near Ridgewood School. The suspect reportedly took a green Ford Mustang from the victim.

A short time later, a Humboldt County Sheriffs Sargent spotted the mustang on Elk River Road and tried to pull the car over.

During a pursuit, the car stopped and a male passenger got out and fled on foot. The car continued where it crashed and went off the roadway and into some brush at Herrick Avenue.

The driver, a 19-year-old man, was arrested and transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility.

The owner of the vehicle was treated for unknown injuries.

The incident remains under investigation.
