Plan to Build Environmental Friendly Railroad and Port in Humboldt County

EUREKA, Ca. (KIEM) – A plan to kick start a railroad and port in Humboldt County could be in the works.

Humboldt Eastern Railroad is trying to raise 10 million dollars. The total cost of the project is about 10 billion dollars. It’s all to build an east, west railroad and port on the Samoa Peninsula.

The train would use hydrogen fuel cells and the port would use all electrical equipment. This would make the project environmentally green and friendly. The two track railroad would plan to run near Red Bluff.

William Bertain is an advocate for the project. He says this would create more jobs opportunities here in Humboldt.
