Arcata officials and community come together for barbecue

Arcata, Ca.,(KIEM) Another community event that got children up and running Sunday was a community barbecue organized by the Arcata police department.

The barbecue was open to all and a great way for neighbors and law enforcement to bridge the gap between one another.

After the success of APD’s barbecue last year at the Redwood Day Camp. APD Sargeant, Keith Altizer said he wants the success to continue into the new year.

“They get to interact with a police officer, not in law enforcement action and they get to see the human side of us. Playing some basketball, eating some hotdogs, which is great. We’re just out here trying to mix it up with the community.”

Arcata Fire District was also in attendance.
