Stolen car chase ends with an arrest at Sequoia Park

EUREKA (KIEM)- A man was arrested early Monday morning after stealing a car that was left warming up in a driveway.

Eureka police responded just after five to a residence on the 3400 block of I street. Officers located the car at 17th and J Street where a pursuit ensued. Speeds reached 70 miles-per-hour and went down the single-lane road to the duck pond.

It came to an end at the Sequoia Park playground gate entrance located off of W Street. The driver, 41 year-old Shiloh John Chase exited the car but was taken into custody without incident. The car had a flat tire but no damage.

Chase was booked for vehicle theft, evading and probation revocation. Chase is not eligible for bail due to a probation hold.
