Traffic stop results in drug arrest

ARCATA (KIEM)- A previous deported felon from Mexico is arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop. At around 7:30 Thursday night, Juan Valdovinos was pulled over on State Route 299 near the Giuntoli exit.

During the traffic stop, the drug task force said he tossed a paper bag out the passenger side window. Inside the bag, was over a half pound of meth packaged for sale.

Agents then searched Valdovinos’ Eureka home located on the 3000 block of Ingley Street and found 22 ounces of meth that was buried on the property. Nearly $6,000 was also seized.

Valdovinos was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility and booked for possession and transportation of controlled substances, attempt to destroy evidence and driving unlicensed.
