Drug Task Force makes large heroin seizure

LOLETA (KIEM)- It’s believed to be one of the largest seizure of heroin on the North Coast. That’s according to the Humboldt County Drug Task Force.

At around 4:30 Sunday afternoon, the task force and other agencies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1,000 block of Hookton Road.

Agents located a false compartment in the rear passenger seat of the vehicle. They opened the compartment and found 12 pounds of heroin packaged for sales. Agents also located over $6,000 that is believed profits from drug sales.

Adrian Carlos Cota-Alonso and Edgar Castano both from Sonora, Mexico were transported to the Humboldt County Jail.  They were booked for possession and transportation of controlled substances for the purpose of sales. Their bail is each set at $100,000.
