Man dies in Southern Humboldt crash

BENBOW (KIEM)- A man is dead after crashing into a tree in Southern Humboldt.

Just before nine Sunday night, the 63 year-old man was driving a Chevy Trailblazer southbound on highway 101 south of Benbow Drive.

For unknown reasons, he drove off the west roadway edge and then traveled back in the other director across both lanes before colliding with a tree.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. It’s unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
