City Council Moves Forward on Proposed Skate Park

FORTUNA, Ca. (KIEM) – Skateboarders might soon have a place to show off some of their tricks.

The proposed skate park would be at Newburg Park. It would be at the current bike park.

The Humboldt Skate Park Collective is seeking funding for the new skate park. They are also in charge on creating the early designs of the skate park.

An agreement between the city of Fortuna and The Humboldt Skate Park Collective was made. This would give organization the go-ahead to build the park.

The proposed skate is in honor of Kiya Kitchen and Faith Tsrnas. In 2016, the two girls were struck and killed while skate boarding on Eel River Drive.
