Emergency personnel conduct swift water rescue near Ferndale

FERNDALE, CA. (KIEM) – Wednesday evening the US Coast Guard Sector Humboldt Bay, Ferndale Fire Department, and California Highway Patrol responded to was is being called a possible swift water rescue on the outskirts of Ferndale.

Details are limited at this time, but according to emergency personnel relaying information to a dispatcher. Several children were on a tractor and have been rescued near Sage Road. A Coast Guard Helicopter was called in and several emergency vehicles were on scene looking for a male, possibly lost in flooded water. The incident was first reported at about 7:45 pm. Officials say a total of 4 children and 2 adults, 1 male still missing as of Wednesday evening.
