CUTTEN, CA. (KIEM) – Emergency crews were called to Cutten after PG&E crews struck a pipe causing a gas leak.

The incident happened at around 10:30 Wednesday morning at a residence on Lapoint road. Humboldt Bay Fire quickly responded to area, but the utility company had already cut off the gas flow and began repairing the break. Battalion Chief Chris Emmons says the department has to take calls like this very seriously.

Natural gas often has a rotten egg smell. So if you think there might be a leak evacuate the building immediately and call 9-1-1.
