New Tax Laws as deadline approaches

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, CA. (KIEM) – The tax deadline is a little more than a month away and there are a couple of new changes that are going to impact tax returns.

Under the new tax law, the refund will be less. This is because you’ve been getting more money in your take home pay in 2018 than the year before.

So when filing your taxes, do not panic if you’re not getting back the amount you anticipated. Certified Public Accountant John Fullerton tells us his clients are getting their refunds on-time, even after the 35 day Government Shutdown.

Currently in Congress, there is a proposed bill to extend the tax filing deadline until mid-May.
