Fortuna man wanted for attempted murder arrested in Southern Oregon

MEDFORD, OR (KIEM)- A Fortuna man wanted for attempted murder is arrested in Medford, Oregon.

24 year-old Derek Ray Johnson was taken into custody Tuesday after police located him at a home on the three thousand block of Sheraton Court. He attempted to flee out a back door but was met by waiting officers.

Johnson is accused of stabbing a 51 year-old Fortuna man back in February.

He waived extradition and will be transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility. Johnson faces charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and the use of a deadly weapon with great bodily injury.
