Plan St. Patrick’s Day travel plans, says CHP

Humboldt County, Ca., (KIEM) This weekend, the nation will observe St. Patrick’s Day, an international holiday that is commonly associated with parades and pubs.

Unfortunately, it often ends with risky drunk drivers taking to the roads when the parties end.

Reports show that drunk driving accounts for nearly one-third of vehicle-related fatalities in the united states.

Just last year in the state of California, nearly 130 people were involved in a DUI collision and close to 250 arrests were made.

The California Highway Patrol and California Office Of Traffic Safety are urging Humboldt County residents to make planning for the holiday celebration a priority.

Officials say if your plans involve alcohol, plan a sober ride in advance.
