Mathiesen named Six Rivers National Forest fire chief

EUREKA (KIEM)- Six Rivers National Forest has a new fire chief.

Josh Mathiesen has been selected as the inter agency fire chief for the Six Rivers National Forest and Redwood National Park.

Mathisen grew up on the California central coast and has 25 years in the fire service.

Mathiesen is married and has a daughter who is serving in the U.S. Army.

His first day on the job is April 1. He replaces mike Minton who left for a position with the National Parks Service.
