EUREKA, CA. (KIEM) – Improving the roads and the sidewalks is a top priority for the City of Eureka.

Thanks to grant funding, several pedestrian improvement projects are near completion, but many more are in the works. Throughout the city, curb ramps, sidewalks, and intersections have been updated to be ADA compliant. During most construction days, pipeline systems in the ground, are also evaluated for the safety of the public.

City Engineer Willor told Redwood News, although there are many projects in the works, the cities funding source hasn’t changed. He hopes come election season, measure “I” will return. He claims the quarter-cent sales tax will fund the need for road improvements.
