Agencies vie for “Measure Z” funding

EUREKA, CA. (KIEM) – Multiple North Coast public safety agencies are hoping to get their fair share of Measure Z funding, the voter-approved half cent sales tax for maintaining public safety services.

Today at the Humboldt County Courthouse. The Measure Z Citizens’ Advisory Committee is continuing to rank and review each agencies request for program funding before they provide recommendations to the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors. According to officials, there is a little over 3 and a half million dollars that can be allocated, but there are over 14- million dollars in requests.

To avoid such a gap between requests and what can be allocated, a member of the advisory committee has requested a limit for funding to be put on the next agenda.
