Eureka zoning code changes calls for modern updates

EUREKA, CA (KIEM) – The City of Eureka has new recommended changes to the current zoning codes. Essentially doing a complete 180 with the cities building regulations.

What does this mean? According to Development Services Director Rob Holmlund, The city aims to stimulate new construction, new housing, new commercial, and industrial development by making it easier on those who wish to build. That means throwing the outdated development regulations away and bringing a new set of modern rules.

Before the new zoning rules are approved by the Planning Commission. The public will have an opportunity to ask question and give input on what’s being proposed. The public meeting will start at 3 April 8th at eureka city hall.
