Cal Fire Plans for Fuels Reduction Project to Help Prevent Wildfires

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Ca. (KIEM) – California is stepping up to prevent another year of catastrophic wildfires. Here on the north coast, a Fuels Reduction Project could be the solution.

Last month, Governor Newsom declared a statewide emergency after 2018’s devastating wildfire season. The Fuels Reduction Project” is one in thirty-five projects identified by Cal Fire. A fuels break would be built around the town of Bridgeville, to reduce wild land fuels. Cal Fire hopes that will help to minimize the threat of wildfires.

The project is expected to break ground later this month. Cal Fire hopes to complete the project by July.
