Will the city of Arcata adopt the Closure and Conversion Ordinance?

Arcata, Ca., (KIEM) The Arcata City Council hopes to adopt a resolution to the Closure and Conversion Ordinance.

In early March, the council considered the draft ordinance asking that the ordinance come back for deliberation and potential introduction at its next meeting.

This happened after council members were interested in the original Closure and Conversion Ordinance introduced back in April of 2017.

Since then, the city’s staff has received public input and legal analysis of the original ordinance, which addresses the most recent case law and has a better understanding of the implications of the policy recommendations.

City staff is now asking the council to bring the ordinance back for adoption at its April 17th meeting.

Wednesday’s council meeting begins at 6 PM inside city hall.
