APD learns about Arcata history on community walk

Arcata, Ca., (KIEM) In APD fashion, some of the department’s officers along with Arcata locals met up on 13th and C Street for Sunday’s community walk in Arcata.

Everyone gathered at 11AM in the Bay View Neighborhood to adopt the community policing philosophy. By attempting to reduce crime, reduce fear of crime, and to empower citizens to work with local law officials; to best address the concerns of the community.

At Sunday’s walk, members of the community took officers on a historical tour of the Bay View Neighborhood; where officers, too, got an opportunity to learn something new.

The department says this was another example of the pride the city of Arcata.

APD community walks are monthly and the department encourages locals to come out and connect.
