Bids for Fortuna improvement project accepted mid-April

Fortuna, Ca., (KIEM) Next week the city of Fortuna will be accepting bids for a city’s flood control improvement project.

The Hillside Creek project area includes trenching and shoring; replacement of three existing culverts with aluminum structural plate culverts with bolted sills; rock roughened channel within culverts; excavation, hauling, soil disposal, and placement of instream rock/log habitat structures; storm drain infrastructure including pipes, catch basins and an underdrain; reconstruction of roadway, driveway, sidewalk, curb and gutter; erosion control, seed/mulch and plant installation.

The Rohner Creek project area includes installation of flap gates on existing storm drain outfalls.

The project is located between where Hillside and Rohner Creek meet, between Smith Lane and Alder Drive.

The city hopes to have the entire project completed within 145 calendar days from the start date.

The city anticipates that the work will begin on or about June 10 but it’s not for certain.

Bids for the improvement project will be accepted by or before April 16 at Fortuna City Hall.
