HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Ca. (KIEM) – There are many residents who live outside the boundaries of any fire district and if there’s an emergency needed it takes a while for any help to arrive.

But many fire agencies serve people outside of their area. One of their biggest problems is that there is no legal agency to provide for those rural areas.

This morning, several fire departments came before the before board of supervisors asking for more funding to help those populations.

The next steps is to create an allocation strategy for funding gaps and form a committee that works closely with the fire districts.
