Gas prices on the rise

EUREKA (KIEM)- For many drivers out there, you’ve probably noticed the recent climbing gas prices. According to GasBuddy, regular unleaded prices have gone up 15 cents in California over the past week.

The state average is $3.76 a gallon but that’s still more than a quarter below prices here in Eureka. In fact, most gas stations are charging over four dollars a gallon for unleaded gas. But if you’re looking for the area bargain, the lowest price in town we found was $3.65 a gallon at Costco.

Partick Dehaan, a petroleum analyst for GasBuddy said California is seeing a surge in unexpected refinery outages. This is leading to an extremely tight supply of cleaner summer gasoline and causing prices to skyrocket.
