Laos Community Shares Culture, Tradition by Celebrating Lao New Year

EUREKA, Ca. (KIEM) – The Laos American community celebrated Pi Mai Lao, which is Lao New Year.

The Laos community honored the festival by wearing traditional clothing, food, dance, and blessing from monks.

The difference between Lao New Year and Chinese New Year is that it’s celebrated in mid-April. But it’s still a time to celebrate community, culture, and heritage.

Members of the community says, it’s also a good way to keep their traditions alive and share their culture with the rest of Humboldt County.
