City of Arcata Encouraging Residents to Hop on their Bikes

ARCATA (KIEM) – Earth Day is right around the corner and May is Bike Month. The city of Arcata is encouraging residents to ride their bikes.

Back in the early 2000’s, Arcata was dubbed a Bike Friendly City. Two years ago, the City partnered with Zagster to create a bike share program.

Since then, the program has expanded.

So far, there are over 700 people who use Zagster. In the last three years, the city worked to improve many of its bike friendly projects.

Tomorrow a Sea Level Rise Bike Tour will be held in Arcata, from 2:30 P.M. to 4 P.M. at the Zagster bike share station on 8th and G Street at the Arcata Plaza.
