Two suspects booked on weapon and drug charges

EUREKA, CA. (KIEM) – Two people are were taken into police custody after authorities say they were in possession of a loaded firearm and nearly a pound of marijuana. EPD’S Waterfront Ranger conducted a vehicle investigation in a parking lot on Hilfiker Lane yesterday just after 12-noon.

Those inside the vehicle have been identified as 39-year-old Gordon Dale Briggs Jr. And 24-year-old Cheyenne Filyau-Alfred both from Eureka. Police also discovered other parts to manufacture a firearm and a blowgun.

According to police the vehicle’s registration was expired and the license plate displayed false tags.

Briggs was booked in the Humboldt County Jail on multiple charges including being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. Filyau-Alfred was also booked for possession of a concealed loaded firearm in a vehicle.
