Humboldt Bay Harbor recives safety improvements

EUREKA, CA. (KIEM) – Over the next few weeks, Humboldt Bay is anticipated to be a whole lot safer with the help of a San Francisco-based coast guard buoy tender and the Army Corps of Engineers.

According to the Humboldt Harbor Safety Committee, since Fall of 2018 severe shoaling in Humboldt Bay has caused breaking surf. Making it difficult and dangerous for mariners. This week, a crew aboard the coast guard cutter aspen is working to reestablish a seasonal buoy. The buoy will help boaters find the bar and entrance channels.

the improvements and the dredging by the Army Corps of Engineers will continue throughout the Spring season.
