Arcata Police Department Partners with DEA for the 17th National Take Back Prescription Drug Day

ARCATA (KIEM) – The Arcata Police Department is joining a national movement that helps the community rid their homes of expired or unwanted prescription drugs.

APD and the DEA Is encouraging the public to throw away old medication. Back in October, over 4000 law enforcement agencies across the nation took part in the movement.

In total, over 900,000 pounds of old prescription drugs were collected. 

The Take Back sheds light on the ongoing public health problem.

Chief Brian Ahearn says, this gives the public a chance to safely discard any unused or expired medication.

If you do have any expired or unwanted medication, APD has their own Safe Medication Disposal box.
