Crowd of People Gather on the Steps of Humboldt County Courthouse for May Day

EUREKA (KIEM) – A crowd of people stood in front of the Humboldt County Courthouse to pay tribute to those who fight for equality.

Thousands of people across the country are celebrating May Day.

Here in Humboldt County people remembered the role unions played to get equal pay and rights. Local community leaders came together to remember what this day means to them and how it continues to impact them. Union organizer Mario Fernandez says, it’s movements like this that help keep the momentum going.

After the rally, a march took place from courthouse to Old Town.
