Eureka City Council to discuss what will replace former Chamber building

Eureka, Ca., (KIEM) Tuesday the Eureka City Council will discuss what kind of business will fill the vacant spot on Broadway now that the city’s Chamber of Commerce has moved.

The city of Eureka will sell the property in Eureka and have yet to decide if that space will become the home to a new upscale hotel.

According to the Lost Coast Outpost earlier this year the city requested proposals for the property and ended up receiving two proposal requests.

One request was from a residential treatment program asking for a 16-bed crisis unit. The second proposal was from a hospitality group, requesting an upscale hotel with close to 80 rooms.

The city council will approve the sale of the Broadway property at this upcoming meeting.

Reports said Eureka City Staff is recommending the hotel, mainly due to the revenue it can bring to the city.

The Eureka City Council will be on Tuesday, May 7 at City Hall starting at 6 PM.
