HUMBOLDT BAY HARBOR, CA (KIEM) – The Humboldt Bay Harbor Entrance is something that many rely on for resources to enter and leave the port. Currently, there are safety concerns for this area of waterway.

Silt levels were so high that local organizations declared a state of emergency back in February. The Army Corps of Engineers dredged the entrance for only two days. They had to stop work because the equipment was too old.

Talking about the issues doesn’t stop here. Tune into Part: Two of Dredging at the Harbor Thursday night at 6. We speak to a local Commercial Fisherman about his thoughts on what’s going on. He tells us how it’s impacting him.
