St. Bernard’s football wins NCS appeal, to compete in D6

EUREKA, CA (KIEM)- St. Bernard’s has won its appeal to the North Coast Section and will compete in the Division 6 football playoffs in 2019.

The new playoff system features seven, eight-team brackets made up of high school enrollment and competitive balance over the last three years.

The Crusaders return 15 players and were originally placed in Division 5 that included bigger schools.  The HDN’s Eureka, Fortuna and Del Norte are all in Division 5. But the appeals committee agreed to move St. Bernard’s down a division.

The Crusaders open the new season August 23, against El Molino.
