UPDATE: HSU Receives Gist Hall Asbestos Test Results

ARCATA (KIEM) – HSU’S Gist Hall received its test results.

Results showed there are no asbestos fibers in the air. However, the all clear has not been given yet.

During a check of the building’s systems last week, school officials discovered possible asbestos behind an access panel on the second floor of the building.

That forced the closure of Gist Hall.

A company will now test the material to confirm whether or not it is asbestos. Those results are expected at the end of the week.

As of right now, no one is allowed access to the building.

Gist Hall will remain closed for about two to six weeks.
