Stranded hikers rescued in northern Humboldt

ORICK, Ca (KIEM)- Four stranded hikers are safe after a late night rescue in northern Humboldt. At around one Thursday morning, sheriff’s deputies located the stranded hikers at the Gold Bluffs Beach area.

The group told the deputies they hiked several miles from their vehicle to camp on the beach. Due to the stormy conditions, their tent blew away and the hikers were without shelter. They were able to hike on a trail to the Gold Bluffs Beach Campground and took shelter in a public restroom.

The sheriff’s office said the hikers were cold but in good condition.
