120 Kids Participate in 2019 Humboldt Tri-Kids Triathlon

ARCATA, CA (KIEM) – Kids swim, bike, and run at the 2019 Humboldt Tri-Kids Triathlon.

Its a fun event for the youth to get outside and be active. Participants of ages seven to 17 entered the friendly- competition solo or as a team.

The race started at the Arcata Community Pool. Then depending on age, kids had to bike a certain amount of miles.

From there was the last leg of the triathlon which was a jog to the finish line.

No matter what place or time participants received, everyone who entered was a winner and got a medal.

“So every kid who tries as they say wins. So they all get a finishing medal. And then we also give first, second, and third in age categories,” said Jennifer Johnson, Race Director.

“I just enjoy swimming. And I just like having the chance to race against other people,” said Fiona Condon, a 9-year-old swimmer who entered the Triathlon with her friends.

We will have more on the triathlon Monday night on Redwood News at 6, for Sporting Youth.
