Vegetation Fire North of Hoopa Closed State Route 96

STATE ROUTE 96, CA (KIEM) – A vegetation fire breaks out early Sunday morning north of Hoopa closing State Route 96.

The milepost 16 fire was reported at around two a.m. Sunday and the roadway was closed for most of the day. It was re-opened at around 4 Sunday afternoon. Steep terrain and falling rocks made it difficult for Hoopa Firefighters and the US Forest Service to contain the three acre fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
