Affordable Senior Housing Project Looks to Extend Deadline to Secure Funding

Eureka, Ca. (KIEM) — An affordable senior housing project is seeking an extension from the Eureka City Council to secure all the funding they need in order for the project to move forward.

The new housing facility would sit at the intersection of 7th Street and Myrtle Avenue. It will feature 36 units and has an estimated price tag of $7.8 million. The project is in the process of securing grant funding, but needs to extend their development agreement they currently have with Danco Communities. One of the project managers, Melinda Petersen, thinks that it will be a good addition to the community.

If the extension is granted and the funding is secured, construction on the housing project will begin in late 2019 or early 2020.
